Hakuna Matata

I cannot believe that it's been a whole year since Millennial Mentality was launched. Not only has it been a year since I launched the site, but June also marks a year since I've moved to Chicago. This last year has been full of love, laughter, exploration, and happiness. I'm so proud to be a Millennial, and to live in a time where I can share my passions with people all over the world.  Millennial Mentality has taught me so much about myself, and I want to share what I've learned this year with all of you.

Know Who Your Rafiki Is

Being a creative can feel like a lot of pressure sometimes. Pressure to constantly improve your craft, and pressure to fulfill your pursuit of beauty. Having great friends to help you with your art make your projects more meaningful because there are amazing memories associated with them. I mean, where would Simba be without Rafiki, right? Find your spiritual giggling guru.

Trust Your Journey

Each creative journey is unique - trust yours. Sometimes we hit creative walls, and when we see other creatives succeeding while we're at a standstill can feel disheartening. Your time will come. You will evolve your craft. Your craft will evolve you.

Don't Fall for Uncle Scar

People will judge your art. People will question your passions. Don't let other people's reservations and hesitations about your art make you second guess your dream. As long as you remain true to your craft, everything will naturally fall into place. Your own, special place.

You're the King of Pride Rock

Claim your craft. People are always interested in what your passion projects are, so don't be afraid to roar from the top of Pride Rock. At first you'll feel like you're always plugging yourself, but after a while people will naturally bring up your creative pursuits in conversation. Be your biggest fan.

To everyone that has been following my journey for the past year: thank you. Your love and support mean everything to me. For the peeps just getting the Mentality: glad to have you. Together let's show the world what our passions are, and what the Mentality really is.

Hakuna Matata: it means no worries.
