Guys, I think I've found the Beyoncé of Chicago.
This week I had the opportunity to link up with one of my favorite Chicago bloggers irl and it was everything. Paige Mariah is a lifestyle blogger for PaigeMariah.com, creative visionary, and all-star thrifter. Our goal was to be coat twins, but after coffee & cookies we learned we were probably separated at birth. Check out how Paige started her blogging journey, and what keeps her on the grind to success.
How did PaigeMariah.com happen?
I first began blogging when I was around 15 in high school- it became one of my favorite hobbies. Later I went on to write for Seventeen Magazine and College Fashionista. My life and style blog, Paige Mariah, just turned 3 years old in January- I've been having a blast with it.
Who inspired you to grace the world with your epic style?
I've always been super inspired by fashion bloggers and I just really enjoy having the outlet to express my own personal style. I enjoy being able to look back at photos from a few years ago and see how much my style has evolved.
side note: a stranger came up to us and asked about what we were doing. After we told him we were working on a collab, he said "I know nothing about the internet except for that porn stuff." We laughed & cried as he stood there eating his Subway sandwich. True story.
As you know, I recently made the move to Chicago. How long have you lived here, and what're some of your favorite spots?
I was actually born in Chicago and raised in the south suburbs. I then moved to Virginia for college, and came back to Chicago afterward to begin my career. I'm really enjoying having this opportunity to learn the city all over again now as an adult. I don't think I can choose a favorite area, but I do enjoy the awesome street art in Pilsen and shopping in Wicker Park.
Tell me what's difficult about being a style blogger in such a big city.
I don't really see it that way. There's such amazing style here in Chicago and I feel like it isn't acknowledged enough. I'm just excited to be able to be among a special group that is dedicated to sharing their style with the world.
What's your dream brand to collaborate with?
Wow, this is hard. At the moment I'll go with Top Shop!
If you had to give a piece of advice to someone thinking of starting their own blog, what would it be?
If you fail to plan, you plan to fail! Just remembering this quote alone has helped me so much in my blogging journey. Think it out, write it down, and then put it into action.
What GIF would you say describes your life?
I know that all my fellow thrifty friends out there will understand this one.
